Geospatial devroom at FOSDEM 2026
Building on its successful return in 2025, the Geospatial devroom will once again be part of FOSDEM in 2026.
We’re inviting talk proposals for the Geospatial devroom, taking place on in Brussels, Belgium. Please also help spread the word by sharing this Call for Participation within your geospatial and open source communities.
Suggested topics
The Geospatial devroom welcomes all things geo-related. Possible areas include:
- Free and open source GIS software and toolchains
- Geodata visualisation and cartography
- Web mapping frameworks and JavaScript libraries
- Mobile and field data collection tools
- Machine learning and AI for geospatial data
- Standards, interoperability, and open data sharing
- OpenStreetMap and collaborative mapping initiatives
- Climate, environment, and sustainability applications
- Urban planning, smart cities, and mobility
- Geospatial aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT)
- Real-world case studies, deployments, and success stories

Talks are planned to be 25 minutes including Q&A. A few 10-minute lightning talk slots will also be available — please indicate your preference when submitting.
Submissions
Submit your proposal at https://fosdem.org/submit, and select “Geospatial devroom” as the track.
